Sania reigns top in Tennis

The Indian Ace Tennis player retained her form, while along with her Australian partner Anastasia Rodionova, had clinched the women's doubles title at the Pattaya Open on Sunday to stay inside the top-10 in doubles rankings. The title was the 13th to Sania in this segment. This has helped the player retain her seventh position in the WTA doubles ranking announced on Monday. If she consistently retains the position, Sania is to get a direct entry into the London Olympics.

Sania Mirza, a strong hope for the nation in women’s tennis in spite of loosing quarterfinals of the singles event in Pattaya Open, managed to climb up the rating 97th from 111th position. As per the norms top-64 players will get a direct entry into the singles draw of the Olympics. Sania needs to try hard to get to the task. But rumors also say that the AITA may ask the organizing committee for a wildcard entry.

As per the others ratings Leander Paes retained his seventh position in the ATP doubles rankings while Mahesh Bhupathi his eleventh. Another Indian player, Somdev Devvarman, who is having a lean patch slid down to 120th position.                  (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
