Tamil Nadu state Government honors the Indian Chess Grand Master Viswanathan Anand with Rs Two Cr for his latest world Crown. The state government announced the award in a statement on Friday at Chennai, which said, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is pleased to honour him by sanctioning a cash reward of Rs. two crores."
On Wednesday, Indian GM beats his opponent Israel GM Boris Gelfand and retains his crown for a fifth time at Moscow. For Anand the latest is after his last title at Bulgaria in 2010. There he beats Veselin Topalov. Anand started with a first round loss but won the title winning the last game with black pieces.
Moscow in its bid to bring back the lost glory of the Soviet era, hosted the $ 2.55 million World Chess Championship. This match had prize money of $ 2.55 million, the highest stake in the history of the game. Anand received Rs.8.10 Cr and Gelfand Rs.5.40 Cr.
