ICC T20 World Cup: First time in Asia

The first ever ICC T20 World Cup in the subcontinent soils will commence from September 18, and the honor goes to the island nation to host it. Truly an achievement for Sri Lanka to host the first ever ICC T20 World Cup in Asia. Sri Lanka is decked up in style to play the host for this mammoth event. With shorter forms of the game being more preferred by the fans, this event will unravel the emperor of the game.

The once in two years carnival was first played in South Africa in 2007 and India was the first emperor of the format, by winning the first ever world cup.  Then we had the Pakistan claiming the honors in the second world cup held in England in 2009. Then the third was in West Indies in 2010 and England was the crowned emperor. And now in Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, the island country is gearing up to welcome the twelve participating countries for the  cricket carnival. The countries shall be teamed into four groups. Of these two from each group will graduate to the super eight level which will have two groups of four teams each. From Super Eight, the top two teams will move to the semi-finals. And later the two semi-final winners will play in the final match on October 07.

ICC has arranged a special website for the tournament. Latest information from the ICC will also be available on the website, providing visitors access to the ICC’s official social media channels.

However for a ringside opinion on the game keep watching Wishesh for the ball by ball opinion polls, from experts. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
