Deccan Chargers the previous franchise that represented Hyderabad was a disaster, especially at the home ground. It only fumbled through a few victories despite having reputable names on the team, regardless of the reasons behind the losses. However, completely revamped with new outfits and a name, Hyderabad Sunrisers have had a blast on their debut in IPL. They had secured a win, inconceivably, after a poor target set at just 126 runs.

All credit to Dale Steyn who claimed three wickets in the last over of the game concluding the match in the 19th over itself. Pune was stunned and denied a victory which it thought was imminent. Hyderabad cinched the win with 22 runs. Amit Mishra's leg break was another asset to the team. The duo had a total of 6 wickets shared equally.

Pune had a very slow start for an IPL and just as it seemed to pick up pace, wickets fell in rapid succession. Ishant's economic bowling, and Perera's expenive yet successful stunt with the balls had guaranteed victory. Perera also perfomed well with the bat, scoring a quick 30.

In the end, Pune's valiant bowling was not just enough to clinch the game.
