Australian batsmen Steven Smith and Brad Haddin have once again rescued the team who were about to collapse against the England pace. The fifth Ashes Test match in Sydney was a good day for both the teams. England removed five Aussie batsmen under a total score of hundred runs and later on Smith, Haddin posted a 128 runs partnership which made the hosts to score a decent total at the board. Smith score second hundred of the series and was the last batsman to be out and Aussies were bowled out for 326 runs.
England's Ben Stokes took his maiden five wicket haul and Stuart Broad picked two wickets. In reply, England again made a poor start as Mitchell Johnson dismissed Carberry for a duck. At stumps of day one, England are at 8 runs for the loss of one wicket, captain Cook and Anderson who came in as night watchman were at crease.
