Indian Cinema is more or less referred to a Export – Import Business, these days. We are seeing more and more Tamil films, to be dubbed and released in Telugu and Vice Versa. One such film that released today is ‘Nanna’. Hero Vikram, who is famous, not only in Tamil, but also in T – Town, for his extra ordinary performance in the films like ‘Aparichitudu’, has come up with yet another challenging role of a mentally challenged person. Well, if you ask me to categories this film in a certain Jorner, I would say, ‘Nanna’ is a complete entertainer. The film is worth watching on Silver Screen. However, the storyline of this film, reminds you a B – Town film, starring Ajay Devgan, Sushmita Sen and Esha Doel, released some time back. Read further, to know more;
Story:
Krishnan (Vikram), a mentally challenged person, who’s only reason to life his life is his daughter Akshita, leads a happy life taking care of his daughter, working as a waiter, in a Restaurant. Akshita, on the other hand, is so matured in her thoughts that is definitely much more than her age, refuses to go to school, and gain knowledge, in order to match to her father’s mind set.
Moving further, when the flash back is revealed, we can see Krishnan meeting Swetha (Aamla Paul), who is a lonely desperate woman, gets married to Krishnan, gives birth to a baby and suddenly disappears from Krishnan’s life, one day.
Meanwhile, Swetha’s father Bashyam (Nassar), comes to Krishnan, to get back his Grand Daughter, Akshita. Bashyam files a case against Krishnan and proves he is mentally challenged, incapable to take care of himself, so, all the responsibility of raising Akshita, has to be given to her Grand Father. It is during this time, Krishnan meets Anuradha (Anushka), who is a Lawyer, and urges her to help him, with getting his daughter back.
Anuradha, even is a single Mother, having her set of problems. From here the story takes further step. Now, where did Swetha disappear, did Bashyam succeed in getting back Akshita to him, what did Anuradha do to win the case, all these are to be seen on Silver Screen.
Performance & Analysis:
There is no doubt in categorizing Vikram as a soul of the film. The Actor’s performance as a mentally challenged person would definitely make you get tears in your eyes. The Child Artist, who did the role of Akshita, was an eye stealer too. Though Aamla Paul’s character exists only for some time in the film, the character is a key to connect to the story. Anushka’s role as Anuradha, is quite a matured character and considered to be a performance oriented role, and Anushka as always, did her best in this film. Even Nassar’s role of a selfish person, definitely is appreciated. The music scores given by G.V. Prakash Kumar, the Screenplay and the Direction responsibilities handled by Vijay, for such a tough script, and yet to make it entertaining, is perfect.
Final Word:
‘Nanna’, a extra ordinary attempt, a worth watching film.
