Another Tamil dubbed film, with the original language essence. ‘Kaanchana’ is a sequel to ‘Muni’, directed by Raghava Lawrence, who played the lead role in both first and the sequel. This film, as the earlier one comes under the Horror Jorner. Lawrence direction skills and the screenplay abilities are to be appreciated, as the director showed much ability in the making of the film. To know about the take off of this film, read further;

Story:

The movie starts of elevating the happy life of Raghava (Lawrence) along with his family. Raghava has a fear of darkness and ghosts. One day, Raghava plays Cricket in burial ground. Accidentally, the ball hit by him, hits a dead body, that was under the mud. Unknowingly, Raghava carries away the ball that has the stumps of the blood stains of that dead body, and with these ghosts follows Raghava into his house, create all scary things and finally get into Raghava’s body.

From then onwards, Raghava starts behaving in a totally weird. It would be found out that there are three ghosts in Raghava’s body, and one of them being that of kaanchana’s (Sharat Kumar). Kaanchana is a Hijra, who strives for equal rights for them in the society. He gets killed brutally. The rest of the story is how did kaanchana’s spirit, that has entered in the Body of Raghava, takes the revenge on the people who were responsible to Kaanchana’s death.

Performance and Analysis:

Though the Direction and the movie making skills of Lawrence are to be appreciated, the idea of Lawrence enacting the lead role, was not upto the mark. The value of the character played by Lawrence was very tough and required lot of emotions to be expressed on face. Lawrence could have done a much better performance. Even the Heroine of the film, Laxmi Rai, was limited to only songs and some sequences. One of the major assets of the film is Sharat Kumar. The Actor carried such a challenging role with ease. But, Sharat Kumar’s role was limited only to certain sequences. Music scores given by Thaman.S, were okey. Back ground scores seem to be apt. Rest all star cast such as Kovai Sarala and others, did their bit. The film would be liked by all those, who love watching Horror films.

Final Word:

‘Kaanchana’, a Onetime Watch.
