Calendar Girls Analysis

Calendar Girls Movie Review and Ratings

Calendar Girls movie is almost like a sequel to Fashion movie, in which the dark side of celebrities and their emotions are carried well. Director Madhur Bhandarkar had tried to create the same magic with Calendar girls, but failed in doing so.

In fact, he even made the similar attempt, in his past Kareena Kapoor Heroine movie. There itself, he had to face the bad fortune. But maybe he is not convinced with the amount of fortune faced and so did the Calendar girls, touching the similar lanes of Fashion movie.

The only plus point of the Calendar girls movie is, it showcased a new point saying that, how can the social networking sites influence or in fact destroy the upcoming Bollywood stars’ lives. Other than that, scenes like spot fixing in IPLs and reality show competition scenes are completely outdated ones.

Even a few of the dialogues like “Mujhe bada paisa, bada hero aur badi film chahiye”, is completely boring. On the whole, Calendar girls has nothing to do with the unique entertainment.

Performance

All the five new faces, Akanksha Puri, Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt, Ruhi Singh and Satarupa Pyne, will just remain as the glamor dolls and might not turn out as good actresses. Even that glamor credit goes to the costume designer and cinematography departments.

However, among them, Kyra Dutt gets a good character and she would be notable, compared to the others. Then comes Ruhi Singh, who is spotted clicking the ‘selfies’ all  the time gets a decent screen time.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s cameo as a director, in the second half, has no importance. Rohit Roy as a fashion photographer and Suhel Seth gave a decent performance. Rest other characters are just ok.

No Cinematography, no proper editing, dialogues are weak, music by Amaal Malik is a big blunder, the production values are average. and in one word, there are flaws in every technical department.

Director Madhur Bhandarkar, who is playing hide and seek with the success for quite some time, still did not stop playing the game. In fact the hide and seek game speeded up with Calendar girls. The calendar girls movie is a sure shot disaster.

Calendar Girls Final Word

Do not dare to give a date in your calendar to watch Calendar girls movie. If you give, that would be your biggest blunder of the decade.
