Study says that Vitamin D Supplements are Vital for Baby's Gut Microbiome:- A team of researchers from their extensive research made it clear that Vitamin D supplements are vital for the baby's gut microbiome. The study has been published in the journal Gut Microbes which said that the supplements of Vitamin D are associated with the changes in the baby's microbiome at the age of three months. Senior author Anita Kozyrskyj, a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta and a CHILD Cohort Study investigator said that Vitamin D plays an important role in the early life of children and the healthy development of the immune system of a baby.

The infants receive Vitamin D as a supplement to breastfeeding or as an ingredient in infant formulas. The samples are taken through home visits from 1157 infants. This is done as a part of the CHILD Cohort Study-a national study. The root cause of the study is to find allergies, obesity, asthma and other chronic diseases. The study found that the Vitamin D supplements in infants were associated with a lower abundance of Megamonas. When the levels of gut bacteria turned imbalanced, it caused illness and increased the susceptibility of chronic diseases.

The study proved that over 30% of the infants carried C difficile. An infant's gut microbiota undergoes several rapid changes during their early life said Anita Kozyrskyj.
