Trend… a word that is ‘in’ all the time, in particular if it is associated with ‘fashion’… if you are a fashion freak or even believe being and dressing ‘trendy’ can help you in a positive way, then here are some more tips for you to help you dress ‘trendy’;
Remember the first rule of dressing well -- if you are showing some cleavage, wear that top with some trouser pants. If you're legs are traffic-stopping, pair that skirt with a flattering top that covers your chest. Balance it out. You're interesting when there's something left to the imagination.
Wear the right size. It's no secret that models and celebrities toting fashions are thin. You can be just as attractive in a size 14 as a size 2 if you wear it right. Make sure that your jeans waistband is not cutting into your hips. Don't be afraid to wear a larger size. If you look good, you will feel good. On that note, don't be afraid to wear a smaller size if you're prone to hanging out in baggy clothes.
Pair your favorite jeans with a T-shirt and a tailored jacket. This look transcends age. You can wear this outfit with ballet flats or a sexy pair of heels. This look will go almost anywhere.
Select skirts and trousers that accentuate your positives. If your thighs feel a little bigger than you're comfortable with, pick a knee-length skirt that has a bit of flare at the ends. Pair that with a hip-length top and a cardigan or a vest.
Shop for classics instead of trends. While it's fun to have a trendy piece, having a closet full of classic wardrobe staples will make it easier to dress well. Use trends as an accessory rather than your overall wardrobe. Classics include solid-colored pieces such as a skirt, dark jeans, a cardigan, a blazer or jacket, a white button-up blouse and a black dress that can go from day to night.
Don't hide your femininity. A woman who is comfortable looking like a woman is attractive. Hiding inside a baggy sweatshirt may be comfy for a weekend in, but allowing yourself to wear a skirt to the grocery store instead of pants may just help boost your womanly self-confidence.
Take care of your skin and hair. For those who are required to follow an extremely modest dress code, such as for a private college, having well-kept skin and hair may be all you can show the world.
Keep the make-up light. The point of make-up is to accentuate the beauty you already have, not give yourself a new face. If your make-up brushes off easily onto your collar, you're wearing too much. Find a feature you love about yourself and play it up a bit, leaving the others be. Put a little mascara and shadow on your eyes and pair with a natural lip, or play up your lips and keep the eyes simple.
Working on staying in ‘trend’ every now and then. Wow! What a trendy thought!
