Commercials like Close-up or Colgate or any other brand for that matter shows a chunk of neatly put on toothpaste on the brush more so because it looks good on a brush and not because it is to be used so.
You can save a lot on toothpastes when you use a thin spread of toothpaste which is just under one cm high along the brush instead of using a whole lot of it and get the desired effect. In fact this is more efficient in cleaning than the excessive toothpaste which gets wasted when you spit it out.
For better use, you can press the paste on the brush into the bristles with your tongue when you start brushing for an extended and uniform toothpaste foam in the mouth when you brush. A little saving goes a long way in a family with more than four people.
