Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Two People Held:- The Lakhimpur Kheri Violence case created a sensation across the nation after eight people were killed. The Supreme Court asked the government of Uttar Pradesh to submit the First Information Report (FIR) that was registered along with the arrests made in the case. Seven farmers along with a journalist were killed after they were run over by a four-wheeler. The incident created national outrage and the government of Uttar Pradesh announced an ex gratia of Rs 45 lakhs and imposed 144 section. Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu warned that he would head for a hunger strike starting from tomorrow if Ajay Mishra Teni's son is not arrested in the case. Allahabad High Court Justice (retd) Pradeep Kumar Srivastava is appointed to investigate the matter.

Several Congress leaders tried to reach out the families of the farmers but tight security was imposed and no one was allowed. Soon after the outrage, the politicians were allowed to meet the family members after the cremation formalities are completed. Sharing a picture of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi with the kin of the deceased, Sidhu called them the guardians of democracy. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav visited the village. Ashish Pandey and Lav Kush who were in the convoy got arrested by the cops and are produced in the court.
