AP High Court serious over facilities in Social Welfare Schools:- The High Court of Andhra Pradesh expressed anguish over the government of AP which failed to provide basic facilities in Social Welfare Residential Schools across the state. A PIL was filed by Advocate Babji after there were no basic facilities in the Social Welfare Boys Residential School at Godi village in Allavaram mandal located in the district of BR Ambedkar Konaseema district. A division bench with Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and R Raghunadhan Rao slammed the government of Andhra Pradesh. The High Court asked the government to provide better facilities for the students residing in the hostels. "If such is the condition in the hostel, can we send our children to such hostels" questioned the AP High Court.

The court also directed the government to initiate immediate measures to provide cots, mattresses for 1.7 lakh students across the state in the 100 Social Welfare Residential Schools of Andhra Pradesh. The court also adjourned the hearing for four weeks. Government lawyer C Suman submitted the bills of Rs 84 lakhs that are sanctioned to improve the facilities in the social welfare residential school of Godi. The petitioner's side said that the government responded only after the court's intervention.
