iPad Mini -What can you expect?

We have all speculated that the iPad Mini would be made public today but what we know is very less. Here is what you can expect about the smaller iPad; an intelligent guess.

The most obvious is the smaller size. A screen that measures 7.85 inches diagonally with a 1024x768 resolution is what you can expect, akin to the earlier generations of the iPad. According to WSJ a prototype model which had a similar screen dimension was being produced by the start of this month which only adds to the speculation.

Just because it is small, don't expect the tablet to be as cheap as the new Google Nexus 7 or the Amazon Kindle Fire HD which was released recently with impressive specifications. Few research analysts mentioned that the tablet should be priced between $249 to $299 for maximum appreciation from the fans. Now that the iPod touch is being sold at the $199 mark you cannot expect a bigger device with the same price. The iPad 2 is now on sale starting at $399 so one would opt for the bigger tablet if the price is very close to the older iteration of the tablet.
The tablet is expected to have some serious competition from the ruling tablets now, the Google Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD.

Don't be disappointed to know that you don't have a retina display on the "little" thing; it has been long predicted that the device might not have the state of the art display. On the other hand of the debate, the specualtion is against the timeline of Apple. A non-retina display at this point of time is completely unimaginable.

Since the Apple introduced a new dock connector, Lightning, for all the devices this year, you can expect to see the smaller 30 pin connector on this device too.

With the tablet under 8 inches, your dreams of holding an iPad in your hands conveniently for a longer period of time is not very far away. However, the thinkness should be the same, at 7.2mm. The bezel is thinnner too.

Though the exact resolution of the capabilities of the cameras on board are not known, leaks show that the smaller iPad has two cameras.

The battery us speculated to be better than the iPhone now and has a capacity of 16.7 Watt-hours. With all the interest brewing around the iPad Mini, you can definitely expect to see the latest little thing devour the sales of the bigger brother.
