Trinamul Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has said that UPA chairperson suggested the names of Pranab Mukherjee and Hamid Ansari for President's post. Mamata Banerjee confirmed this to the media after she came out of Sonia Gandhi's residence—10 Janpath. It is known that Mamata Banerjee met Sonia Gandhi today and discussed Presidential candidate.

The sources said that Mamata Banerjee has speaker Meira Kumar and Abdul Kalam on her mind. She, however, didn't say anything on her choice when media questioned her this evening. What Mamata said was that she would talk to Mulayam Singh on the same.  Now that Congress came out with the names, the ball is Mamata's court whether or not to support Pranab Mukherjee.
