Rahul Gandhi cutly refuses to comment on Advani's statement

In a rare circumstance, the usually cool Sonia Gandhi has been seen irate and had went as far as prodding fellow congress members to bash at L K Advani for making what Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called a disgraceful comment. L K Advani had to retract his controversial statement of calling the UPA 2 illegitimate. He had later on the request of the speaker, Meira Kumar, said that he was not referring to the elections of 2009 but was pointing towards the vote of confidence in the House. In his exact words, the BJP veteran said that the Congress had won a trust vote in 2008 after "crores of rupees were spent."

However, probably inheriting the calmness of his mother, Rahul Gandhi curtly said that he could not make a comment on a senior politician like LK Advani on the issue. Or was he merely being diplomatic? He said heedfully, "He is a senior person. He knows what he is saying. I do not want to comment".

Rahul Gandhi was also present at the monsoon sessions at the Parliament as the Secretary General of Congress not long after his larger role in the politics or party or both were announced. The date when he would don a bigger responsibility in his career were still not finalized but were hinted to be in September by the Congress leader Digvijaya Singh who hoped that he would expand his contributions to the party greatly. The other side of the coin has witnessed resounding rumors that indicated he would be made a cabinet minister.
