Narendra Modi lampoons Manmohan Singh

Siezing his opportunity to lash out at the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat has criticized him for being mum over the Assam violence issue. His primary focus was however on the unexplained allowance of the FDI in retail.

He criticized that the PM had changed the definition of Democracy and according to the new Indian Democracy it is rule “of the foreigners, by the foreigners and for the foreigners", he said.

He said, "Now onwards pen, pencils, notebooks would not be sold by your neighbourhood shopkeeper but some 'Gora'(foreigner). So, local traders and retailers will lose employment," while addressing a large gathering at Vivekananda Youth Convention here in Kutch district.

"Former US President Abraham Lincoln gave world famous definition of democracy --'of the people, by the people and for the people'--, but our Manmohan Singhji has given us a new definition --'of the foreigners, by the foreigners, for the foreigners'," he said.

Narendra Modi contended that the new reform of alowing FDI, Foreign Direct Investment, in multibrand retail would have unequal benefits to the foreign investors while the domestic producers would bite the dust.

He also alleged that the UPA led by the Congress had made reforms overnight while not informing the Parliament properly. He said that they have broken promises made in the House.

Speaking on the issue of the Assam Violence he said, "Bangladeshis, who are foreigners, have started asserting their rights in Assam and our Prime Minster who is also elected from Assam is silent”.

He made satirical statements mentioning that the government has developed a soft corner for foreigners, talking about the involvement of foreigners in both FDI in retail and the Assam Violence.

Modi was accompanied by senior BJP leader LK Advani at the function.
