Students of Kakatiya University today stopped the convoy of Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah in Warangal and hurled eggs and tomatoes on his car.
The Minister was on a visit to the Warangal town to pay tribute to Jyothy Rao Phule and garland his statue. But, the students who smelt of his trip in advance gathered in good numbers in the town and obstructed his convoy.
Most of the students came to the streets well equipped with tomatoes and eggs and hurled them on his convoy after blocking its way. Police responded befittingly with lathicharge to disperse them to facilitate a smooth functioning of the Minister’s programme in the town and took some students into custody.
Sources said some of the students were slightly injured in the lathicharge. Students also blocked the moment of TDP MP Ms. Gundu Sudha Rani.
