The soul of Baba left his physical body this morning.Puttaparthy Sri Satya Sai Baba, 85, who was worshipped by millions of devotees all over the world, attained salvation at 7.40 am this morning. The Satya Sai Seva Trust announced this today in Puttaparthy.
Sai Baba, who was admitted to Sri Satya Sai Super Specialties Hospital on March 28 in an unconscious state, breathed his last exactly after 28 days on a day which is considered as important as Radha Saptami as the lunar day Saptami today coincides with Sunday.
A pall of gloom descended across the entire country and among the millions of Sai devotees across the globe.
The Trust announced that arrangements are being made for the Samadhi of the Baba and the final rites will take place on Wednesday morning. Till then, the mortal remains of the Baba will be kept in the Kulvant Hall of the Prasanthi Nilayam.
The country’s top politicians including the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Governor ESL Narashimhan, Chie Minister Kirankumar Reddy, Governors and Chief Ministers of several states are reaching Puttaparthy to pay their last respects to the mortal remains of Baba.
