TRS to field Kodanda Ram

MLC elections, Legislative council elections, Kodanda ramThe TRS has decided not to contest the Legislative Council elections under the MLAs quota as it has not enough strength to get its candidate elected. But it has tentatively decided to field the Telangana political JAC chairman professor Kodanda Ram from the teachers' constituency of Mahaboobnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad districts.

MLC Mr. P. Sudhakar Reddy, who was elected in 2007 under the teachers’ quota, will retire on March 29 and TRS wants to field Kodanda Ram to fill the vacancy. TRS thinks that the election of Kodanda Ram as MLC will once again indicate the endorsement of teachers and other sections of the society in the Telangana area for the demand of a separate state. By Kodanda ram’s election, KCR also wants to send a strong message to the congress and the Union Government that majority of the government employees in the state are votaries of the separate state.

KCR, who is holding discussions with his senior party colleagues and JAC leaders on the issue, will officially announce Kodanda ram’s name with in a week.  The election will be held in the second week of March.

Regarding the MLAs quota election, KCR has already said that they would neither contest on their own nor support any other political party.
