Leader of the Opposition and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today demanded in the Lok Sabha introduction of the Telangana Bill in the budget session of Parliament.

Drawing the attention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who was present in the house to the issue of Telangana, Sushma announced that BJP would support the Telangana Bill if it was introduced by the Government in the budget session.

Former Bharatiya Janata Party president and party MP, Rajnath Singh also said the BJP and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance have already announced their support to the creation of Telangana. The party had also passed a resolution supporting the formation of Telangana state at its national executive, he said.

“The creation of Telangana is the long cherished dream of the Telangana people and BJP will support the cause,” Mr. Singh added.

He asked the government to spell out the action taken on the Justice Sri Krishna Committee report and the action to be taken on it in the near future. “The Leader of the House and Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee should explain on this,” Rajnath Singh demanded.
