The en masse indefinite fast by hundreds of OU students aimed at achieving Telangana state entered third day today amid the presence of hundreds of riot-gear police men who took up positions in and around the campus in Hyderabad.
Some student leaders of the KU also joined the indefinite fast launched by the students’ JAC as part of its agitation for separate Telangana state.
Making it clear they would not withdraw their fast till Telangana is announced by the Centre, the students rejected the appeal of TRS chief KCR to give up the fasting programme. “We welcome his appeal but there is no question of withdrawing the fast till Telangana is announced,” the student leaders averred.
Finding fault with the Telangana politicians for not demanding the recall of the security forces from the OU campus, the student leaders asked the government to withdraw its forces as they are engaged in a peaceful agitation.
