Telangana congress leaders, who concluded their first round of talks on Telangana with the Union Minister and in charge of the congress affairs in AP Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad in Delhi on Wednesday, submitted a power point presentation to him explaining that the population of Seema Andhra people constituted only 5 lakhs out of the Greater Hyderabad’s total population of 77 lakhs.
They argued that the contribution of the power point presentation in the development of Hyderabad is very negligible and said that most of the Seema Andhra business leaders had obtained government lands, availed loans and constructed the buildings. “They invested in lakhs but they say they had invested thousands of crores of rupees. If the land values are not counted, the value of their buildings would be very marginal,” they told Azad through power point presentation.
They explained to Azad that out of the total income accruing to the state government, 40 per cent is generated from Hyderabad city, 16 per cent from Telangana and the rest 44 per cent from Seema Andhra areas.
“And the main portion of the income generated in Hyderabad flows from the IT sector where most of the employees are from the other states. Because of the IT sector which mainly consisted of the multinational companies, civil aviation, real estate business and hotel industry are developed in Hyderabad. So the contribution of Seema Andhra business sections in revenue generation in Hyderabad is very negligible and there won’t be any downfall of growth just because the Seema Andhra business leaders leave the city,” they told him simply.
Over all, the Telangana congress leaders conveyed the impression that the contribution of the Seema Andhra business leaders and industrialists in the development of Hyderabad was almost nil or negligent.
Regarding the distribution of river waters, the T congress leaders said they would accept the recommendations of the Justice Sri Krishna Committee with the supervision responsibility being given to a regulatory authority.
Azad asked the T congress leaders to submit to him small notes with the points mentioned on river waters and Ponnala Lakshmaiah said he would duly submit it shortly.
Next, Azad will discuss the issue with the Seema Andhra Congress leaders in three or four days.
