Stage is set for a direct confrontation between the employees of the Telangana region and those of the Andhra region working at the Secretariat with the former trying to stop the latter from attending to their duties for the second consecutive day today at Vanasthalipuram in Hyderabad.

The striking employees on Monday attacked the buses carrying the Seema Andhra employees to the secretariat from the Vanasthalipuram area and repeated the attack today terrorizing them. Tension prevailed continuously for the last two days in the area following the incidents.

Though police arrested some TRS activists for obstructing the movement of the employees, hundreds of Seema Andhra employees are living in constant fear of attacks by their T colleagues. The JAC leaders of the Seema Andhra employees on Monday met the senior officials at the secretariat and sought full protection from the higher officials.

“We are living in constant fear and we will not attend to our duties if there is no proper security to our lives,” they told the government.

Private buses attacked by T elements

Added to the tension at the Vanasthalipuram, the striking T employees and pro-Telangana elements have also attacked the private buses coming from Seema Andhra regions and threatened them with dire consequences if they didn’t stop plying.

The attackers destroyed several buses by resorting to stone-pelting and damaging their window panes. With this, police were ordered to provide security to the private buses coming from the Seema Andhra regions at their entry point into Telangana.
