Even as the mass general strike by the Telangana employees reached the 16th day today, efforts are under way quietly to find a solution to the nagging problem of Telangana.

Hyderabad city MP and MIM chief Mr Asaduddin Owaisi had begun his efforts since Tuesday to find a solution to the issue. Owaisi, who only on Monday said that dividing the state is not as easy as a cake cutting, met the TRS boss Mr KCR at his residence in Hyderabad and discussed the issue face to face.

Next, he went to the residence of TDP Chief Mr Chandrababu Naidu and had a closed door meeting with him for some time. However, what transpired in these meetings is not yet known to any one but one is sure that Owaisi is trying to find a solution to the Telangana issue.

Sources said Mr Owaisi is meeting the YSR Congress chief Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy today to discuss the issue. Later, he will fly to Delhi to meet Ahmad Patel, political adviser to the congress president Sonia Gandhi to apprise him of the results of his meetings with these leaders.

MIM leaders said that Owaisi is meeting the leaders of various parties to seek consensus on the Sachar Committee’s recommendations on the development of minorities. But highly placed sources confirmed that the discussions centered on the Telangana issue.

It is said that Owaisi has taken up the responsibility of finding solution to the Telangana issue at the instance of the Centre and the Congress high command. It is also said that the MIM, which is against formation of the Telangana state, has now softened its stand and may agree for the division of the state.

Meanwhile, defense minister AK Antony has reportedly told the T region congress MLAs that the Congress would take a decision on Telangana with in a matter of days.
