Even as the MIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Mr Asaduddin Owaisi asserted that he would not accept anything less than a Greater Telangana which includes two districts of Rayalaseema and Hyderabad city too in case of an imminent division of the state, CPI state secretary Mr Narayana today demanded the Centre to solve the Telangana issue immediately on a priority basis.
Participating in a protest programme at Narayanaguda in Hyderabad where the 10-headed Congress party’s effigy was burnt by the activists, Narayana said that the Centre should take immediate steps to create the Telangana state.
“It is very unfortunate that both the state and Central governments are unmoved by the mass general strike which has entered its 25th day today,” said Narayana.
Owaisi reiterates stand
Reiterating his earlier stand, Mr Owaisi told journalists today that his first preference was to keep the state united. “However, if the division is imminent, two districts of Rayalaseema, Ananthapuram and Kurnool, should be merged with Telangana along with Hyderabad city to form a Greater Telangana,” he said.
“Hyderabad should never be allowed to be made into a Union Territory,” he said.
