
New facts in the illegal mining case have revealed that mining business man Mr Sasi kumar, whose applications for iron ore mining lease were rejected and whose mining area was grabbed by minding mafia don Gali Janardhan reddy, lodged a police complaint as far back as Nov 18, 2009.
He lodged a complaint against Sri Lakshmi, the then secretary of the industries department and Mr Rajagopal, the then director of the mining department that the two officials have demanded bribes from him. The two officials had violated rules and gave the mining lease to Gali Janardhan reddy owned OMC, he said in his complaint.
The complaint was lodged with the Saifabad Police station and copies were given to the Police Commissioner and the Central Zone DCP. But the complaint was never followed up by the police under pressure from the higher ups.
Who is this Sasi Kumar?
Sasi kumar was well experienced in mining business for the last 20 years and got mining leases in 19 areas in Karnataka.
When he applied for mining lease in areas of Siddhapuram and Malapana gudi, he was given leases in some areas however his mining areas were grabbed illegally by Gali Janardhan reddy.
Questioning the illegal mining grab by Gali Janardhan reddy, he approached the high court. But the then industries secretary Mrs Sri Lakshmi called him and asked him not to fight with big people. She also demanded him to pay a bribe of Rs. 3 Cr to restore his leases.
Sasi Kumar however refused to obey the commands of Sri Lakshmi and told her he would drag the government to the court on the injustice done to him. Following this, Sri Lakshmi made changes in the note files.
The files were also part of the seizure made by the CBI. After this, they called Sasi Kumar and recorded his statement.
After this, CBI called both Sri Lakshmi and Rajagopal and recorded their statements.
