HC cancels Rajagopal bail

The AP high court today cancelled the bail granted by the special CBI court to Mr Rajagopal, former mining department director and accused number 3 in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka minister Mr Gali Janardhan reddy.

The special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad granted conditional bail to Rajagopal on Thursday and asked him to submit two sureties of Rs.50, 000 each. The court also directed him to surrender his passport and not to try to influence the witnesses and tamper with evidences.

However, even before Rajagopal family members submitted the sureties, the CBI filed an immediate counter in the same court and sought cancellation of bail to him. With this, the CBI court temporarily suspended the bail orders till Dec 19 enabling the premier investigating agency to approach the high court.

After hearing the arguments from the CBI counsel, the state apex court cancelled the bail till further orders and adjourned the case for further hearing till Dec 20.

The CBI counsel argued in the HC that Rajagopal was likely to manipulate witnesses and some witnesses also faced threat to their lives from him.
