The Delhi South Metro Station was rocked by a mega mock drill conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Delhi Disaster Management Authority. On lookers felt thankful after the drill for giving a live vision into how to combat a natural disaster. The siren that went off at 11.30 am on Wednesday pressed the panic button among the onlookers in the crowded station. But unknown onlookers looked puzzled as many were taking cover under items like chairs and a few lying down. Though the authorities conducted similar drills across hundreds of locations, including schools, malls, markets and other places, this one was a mega drill.

Officials, including from Delhi Police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), displayed essential dos and don'ts and carried the 'injured' to safety and evacuated others, just as in a real earthquake. More such drills in metros across the nation could increase the awareness of safety measures to be adhered during such natural hazards.(With inputs from internet: AarKay)
