Police beefed up security in Maoist prone areas on account of Bharat bandh

In the wake of Maoist nation-wide bandh today, the police in all states, especially in Andhra Pradesh have took all measures to avoid untoward incident especially in the Maoist prone areas of the state. It may be noted that CPI (Maoist) called for Bharat Bandh on May 16 demanding the Centre to withdraw its operation Green Hunt-a combing operation.
The Maoist outputs have also demanded the Centre for the release of political prisoners and other tribals who were allegedly locked up in jails in alleged false cases. Meanwhile, the intelligence department has alarmed the state on the possible disturbances on bandh day in northern part of Telangana region. Special police forces have been reportedly deployed in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal and Adilabad districts. (Phani)
