BJP will independently form government in Maharashtra when Devendra Fadnavis will be taking oath as chief minister of the state today. However, BJP will technically be a minority government as the party only won 122 seats from the 288 Assembly. 144 is the magic figure to form government in Maharashtra but BJP claims to have the support of 41 Nationalist Congress Party [NCP] legislators apart from the Shiv Sena support.
However, Shiv Sena MLAs and chief Uddhav Thackeray will not attend the swearing ceremony as the party is upset with BJP humiliating them over the possible alliance. BJP general secretary said no Shiv Sena legislator will be inducted in the cabinet and this has not gone well with Shiv Sena. According to the sources, the cabinet of Maharashtra will be small just as the Centre has very limited council of ministers.
The swearing ceremony will take place at Wankhede Stadium in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several union Cabinet ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, corporate leaders, Bollywood stars and other celebrities.
