Narendra Modi today reaches Dhaka as a part of his "historic" two day visit to India’s immediate neighborhood, Bangladesh. The visit is expected to unleash new vistas in bilateral ties as both nations are going to pen long-lingering 'Land Boundary agreement' (LBA) besides firming up a number of key pacts.
"Leaving for Bangladesh. This visit is going to strengthen the bond between our Nations, benefitting people of our countries & our region," Modi tweeted while leaving for Bangladesh.
During his maiden visit, Modi will hold wide-ranging talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina on the whole gamut of ties and ways to move forward further.
Dhaka is filled with the huge hoardings of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Bangladesh Prime Minister Nawaz Sheriff. Also the billboards of then
Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Bangladesh's founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who inks an agreement in 1974 to settle the vexed border issue, are also seen.
Modi is expected to deliver a stern message at Bangladesh Capital to support Nawaz Sheriff, who helps India in curbing various northeast terrorist groups. The militant groups are taking asylum in the country since long. In the recent times, the combing of radical Islamist outfits becomes hard.
Ahead of the visit, Modi had lauded Hasina for playing an "important role" in making the bilateral ties "strong" and said, "I am certain my visit will be beneficial for the people of both our nations and in the larger good of the South Asian neighborhood."
