A 10 year old Pakistani kid, who is living in Dubai was transplanted with a heart that came from Hyderabad.
Reacting on the issue, K.M. Cherian, chairman and CEO of the Frontier Lifeline Hospital hospital, said that, “the kid had dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart muscles balloon out and become enlarged and so, cannot pump efficiently.”
When this issue was out, today morning, the hospital authorities were alerted that a heart was available in Hyderabad from a brain dead declared patient. Then a team from the hospital flew to Hyderabad by around 5.30 am today.

Vaishnav (12), who is the donor of the heart, was injured in a road accident near Ramoji Film City was admitted to Global Hospital in Hyderabad. Three of his family members were also the part of the accident.
As the Hyderabad police arranged a green corridor from hospital to Shamshabad international airport, the heart could reach to the airport just within 35 minutes.
“Our team got back to Chennai at 4.30 p.m. and the heart was brought from the airport to the hospital in less than 20 minutes,” Dr. Cherian said.
An official of the Tamil Nadu cadaver transplant programme said that, “None of the cardiac transplant centres in Chennai had an Indian patient who was a suitable recipient for the heart. We also asked the Telangana government to check with other neighbouring states including Kerala and Karnataka to make sure there was no Indian patient in the vicinity who could have received it. If no Indian patient is found suitable, then the organ can be given to a foreign national.”
Doctor said that, the surgery was completed by 10.15 pm with the patient’s support. On the other hand, Vaishnav’s kidneys and liver were also sent for the transplant surgeries in the various hospitals.
