Heavy Rainfall for next 5 Days in AP & TS

After a long break in monsoon, Hyderabad received heavy rainfall on Thursday afternoon. The Met department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Coastal Andhra Pradesh while light to moderate rainfall in Telangana in the coming days. The two states will continue to receive rains for the next four-five days.

Malakpet, Kothapet, Banjara Hills, Saroor Nagar, Aman Nagar, Rahmat Nagar Colony, Rain Bazaar, Chandrayangutta Road, Begumpet, Neerdmet, Yapral and ECIL received rainfall on Thursday.

The pothole on the roads were filled with water causing traffic jams after 5 pm. The Met department indicated that Hyderabad, has forecast cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 and 23ÂșC.

In Telangana, Nalgonda, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Khammam districts received good amount of rainfall on Thursday. However there is no heavy rainfall warning for TS.

Meanwhile in Andhra Pradesh, except for coastal areas, it remained dry in most parts of the state Thursday.

According to officials from the Indian Meteorological Department, these showers are expected to continue for the next-five days.

"These rains would gather intensity over the northern parts of the state. But, the city will continue to receive light to moderate rains," said Y K Reddy, director (in charge), IMD Hyderabad.

"Now, these systems are weakening. And there is a fresh upper air circulation that is taking place near the Bay of Bengal running along the coast of Andhra Pradesh. This system is expected to turn into a low-pressure zone, bringing more rain over the state and city," he said.
The state is currently facing a cumulative rainfall deficit by 8%. Good rainfall activity during next few days, which is expected to last until the end of this month, is likely to bring a marginal dip in this deficiency.

Andhra Pradesh received 11 per cent less rains than normal. Rainfall in the region is likely to reduce in coming days.

However, in the last 24 hours most parts of the state recorded few good showers. From 08:30 am on Wednesday, Machilipatnam received 12 mm rainfall, Vijayawada 4.4 mm, Ongole 3.6 mm and Vishakhapatnam and Kakinada 0.3 and 0.2 mm of rain respectively.
