Former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao, accuses center for the raids on Tuesday. Last week IT officials held raids on Rao's house and office following in connection with a tax evasion probe post-demonetization. Officials seized Rs 30 lakh in new currency and five kg gold.
Rama Mohana Rao termed the raid as an "unconstitutional assault". Rao said, "Whose permission? What rights did the CRPF have to enter my office and house. They found nothing."
"If they wanted to search my house, the CM could have spoken to the home minister," he said.
Rao also claimed that he is still the chief secretary of Tamil Nadu and the government has no guts to give him transfer order.
"I'll hand over to you the panchanama which IT department has found in my house. I was under house arrest," P Rama Mohana Rao said, adding, "They did not have any search warrant against me. The search warrant had my son's name."
After the raids took place, the Tamil Nadu government, next day removed Rao and appointed senior IAS officer and additional chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan as the new chief secretary.
