KTR hits at Centre in procuring Coronavirus Vaccinations:- There is a huge scarcity of vaccinations across the country and the Centre has been finding it tough to meet the expectations. Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) slammed the Centre over its inefficiency in procuring the vaccines for coronavirus. The minister kept interacting with the people of the state on twitter through #AskKTR session last evening. "The problem is vaccine supply versus demand gap. We have the ability to vaccinate more than 10 lakh people a day but unfortunately, constraints on vaccine supplies are hampering brisk progress" posted KTR on his twitter page for a question.

He said that the government of India did not order massive doses initially because of which there is huge scarcity. He said that there is a huge demand and supply gap because of the Indian government. "While all other countries were placing orders for vaccines back in the first half of 2020, the government of India woke up late. Our orders were placed in Jan 2021" told KTR through his twitter page. KTR said that there are more than 50 crores unused doses of Covishield (AstraZeneca) in other countries and the Indian government needs to initiate the process and procure them to the country and allocate the doses to the states.
