87 percent of the new cases in Hyderabad are of Omicron:- The government of Telangana made it clear that there is no chance of imposing lockdown in the state and the government asked the people to be extra cautious and step out of their homes only if there is a necessity. The facemasks and social distancing guidelines are asked to be strictly followed and implemented by the Telangana Health Department. The Omicron variant is now spreading at a fast pace across the limits of Hyderabad. The health officials have collected the samples of the new cases between January 1st and 5th which are tested positive for coronavirus and they were sent for genome sequencing.

87 percent of the samples told that the variant found was of Omicron. 103 samples from the limits of GHMC are sent for genome sequencing and 90 among them are traced as Omicron variant and 13 of them are of the Delta variant.
