Prostitution in Public toilets in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Police have conducted raids in shopping malls where the public toilets have been converted into brothel houses which are run by triad crime gangs. The Police had arrested 51 women and 35 men aged between 17 and 72 in a two day operation in 20 different locations and  they shut down all the brothel houses too.

Though Prostitution is legal in Hong Kong, soliciting and living off the earnings of prostitutes are criminal offenses. These brothels were running for the past 10 months and only regular customers were allowed for sex service with help of secret code and most of the prostitutes hail from Mainland China, said a daily newspaper.

Brothels are created from the toilets in a mostly vacant shopping mall in the outlying Yuen Long district and 150 square foot blocks in the second floor of the shopping malls was crowed as prostitutes working and living space. Chief Inspector Law Kwok-hoi said to a local daily that this raids are part of nine months operation and seven brothel houses were shut down so far. Each customer was charged HK$250 ($32) for sex services in the brothel houses.
