Even though the thieves steal the ATM from the public, the public is still safe, as the thieves anyway do not know the ATM pin, and the public can also ask the bank, to deactivate the ATM card.

May be due to this reason, the thieves started to inquire about both ATM and its pin, directly from the owners.
