The Haji Ali Dargah Trust, facing a lot of criticism for not providing entry to the women in the inner sanctum, has told the Supreme Court that they will provide complete access to women in the dargah with women.
The apex court had granted four weeks time to the Dargah Trust to make required infrastructural changes for providing entry to the women.
Earlier, the Bombay High Court had lifted the ban on women in Haji Ali Dargah for the access into the inner sanctum and the Trust had decided to challenge the order in the Supreme Court. In the SC, the dargah management had agreed to come out with progressive stand in two weeks. The court had extended the stay on entry of women to October 17.
Various progressive organizations in the country had urged the Supreme Court to lift the ban on women from entering into the santum sanctorum of the Haji Ali Dargah by calling it a grievous sin.
