PM Modi Kick Starts Third International Yoga Day In UP

PM Modi Kick Starts Third International Yoga Day In UP:- The third edition of the International Yoga Day at Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan in Lucknow, was kick started by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

The PM donning a white t-shirt and loose trousers, also performed the asanas along with around 50,000 other participants. Also present at the event were Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and cabinet ministers.

Modi, while addressing a huge gathering the crowd on the occasion, said “The immense popularity of Yoga outside India is high and has connected the world with India.”

Over the growing number of Yoga institutes being opened over the last three years, the PM expressed his happiness and said that the demand for Yoga teachers is increasing. He also stressed on the importance of wellness apart from the physical fitness and said that Yoga was a medium to achieve wellness.

“Yoga is about health assurance. It is not even expensive to practice,” Modi said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, speaking at the venue ahead of Prime Minister Modi, thanked the volunteers for their participation. “Yoga is an art of living. It teaches to remain united. Yoga is a part of our tradition and it integrates us,” Yogi said.

Despite the heavy rain, the 80 minute Yoga session was in full swing. Meanwhile, with an aim to set up a record having the highest number of participants, Gujarat CM M Vijay Rupani, BJP President Amit Shah and Baba Ramdev participated in a Yoga camp in Ahmedabad.

At the NDMC International Yoga Day at Connaught Place Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, BJP leader Vijay Goel, Delhi L-G Anil Baijal were present. Various organizations, NGOs and Yoga gurus have held camps and practice sessions, in order to make the International Yoga Day programme a success.

In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, huge security  arrangements are in place in the state capital. Moreover,  large numbers of police officers and 25 companies of PAC are deployed.
