Trump Sued For Blocking Critics On Twitter:- In a shocking act, The First Amendment advocates has sued US President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

It said it is unconstitutional to block his critics from following him on Twitter.

The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court by the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University. The lawsuit cited seven individuals who were rejected by Trump or his aides, after criticizing the president.

Twitter has become an important public forum for the President and he frequently makes public announcements there, says the lawsuit. The lawsuit asked a judge to halt Trump and his media team from blocking critics from following him.

A spokeswoman for government lawyers refused to comment. The lawsuit says blocking people from following Trump’s account was a viewpoint-based restriction that the Constitution does not permit.

The Director of the Knight First Amendment Institute Jameel Jaffer, said, “The First Amendment applies to this digital forum in the same way it applies to town halls and open school board meetings. The White House acts unlawfully when it excludes people from this forum simply because they have disagreed with the President.” Jaffer worked for years with the American Civil Liberties Union.

The president has more than 33 million followers on his @realDonaldTrump Twitter feed and has tweeted more than 35,000 times since first starting the account in 2009. To keep up with public policy issues, as well as monitor Trump’s mood swings, over media coverage of his administration, the Americans use his Twitter account as a medium. Those blocked from a Twitter account cannot read tweets, respond to them directly, or contribute to the comment threads.
