Kamal Haasan Apologizes For Supporting Demonetization:- Tamil Superstar, Kamal Haasan has apologized for supporting PM Narendra Modi’s demonetization move. He said that he took the decision “in a hurry”.

Haasan, in a column titled, ‘A big apology’ in the Tamil magazine said “I owe a big apology to the people for supporting demonetization in a hurry. I initially thought demonetization move was going to curb black money and that people should bear with the problems during that transition.”

The actor said his stance was criticized by many of his friends, who understand economics. “I consoled myself, saying that while the plan was good, there may have been some problems with implementation,” he said. He further said that he had his doubts, when more and more people voiced their anger. “The sign of a good leader is to accept his/her mistake. Gandhi accepted his mistake and leaders today can also accept mistakes. If the PM accepts his mistake in this case, then I will salute him.”

The demonetization scheme was supported by many celebrities and Haasan was one among them. Salute Mr Modi. This move has to be celebrated across political party lines. Most importantly by earnest taxpayers,” the actor had tweeted in November last year.

This twist comes at a time, when Haasan is all set to enter the politics. Earlier, he had also made it clear that his color was definitely not saffron. “Rajinikanth is a suitable ally for the BJP. I am a rationalist,” the superstar told a leading news channel.

The Centre’s stand on beef was also opposed by the actor. He said that the government should indeed give food to the people of India, as it cannot give the menu. Haasan had said that none of the already-existing parties represented his beliefs. And that is the reason he wanted to launch his own political party. All the parties in Tamil Nadu were corrupt, and he was determined to rid of corruption in Tamil Nadu, said the actor.

The Superstar had said that his political outfit would be announced on the occasion of his 63rd birthday, which falls on November 7. to chalk out a strategy and give it a final shape, Haasan had met his fans in Chennai, before his birthday.

Coming to his high-profile meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, the ‘Hey Ram’ actor had said, “I did not go to Kejriwal, he came to me. It was kind of him.” It was supposed by many that it might be a sign of his aligning with the AAP.  

Another Tamil superstar who is also flirting with the idea of joining politics, is none other than Haasan’s contemporary Rajnikanth.
