Former Defence Minister George Fernandes Passed Away

Former Defence Minister George Fernandes Passed Away:- Former Union Minister George Fernandes passed away today morning at the age of 88 due to prolonged illness. He was suffering from Alzheimer disease and was affected with swine flu recently. George Fernandes worked as a Defence Minister for India during 2001 to 2004 under Atal Bihari Vajpayee's NDA rule. George Fernandes has the experience of handling other portfolios like communications, industry and railways.

George Fernandes overlooked Pokhran nuclear tests during 1998 and Kargil war in 1999. George Fernandes is known for taking some crucial calls at the right time during his regime. George Fernandes was a key member in Janata Dal and he was the founder of Samata Party which was found in 1994 and was leter merged in united Janata Dal. George Fernandes worked as a Railways Minister from 1989 to 1990 in VP Singh's cabinet. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the demise of George Fernandes.
