A New H-1B System To Favour Foreigners In American Colleges:- The United States of America yesterday announced a new system for processing H-1B petitions that will give priority for foreign workers with advanced degrees who graduated from American institutions over those hired from India, China or other countries. The rule comes into existence from April 1st this year and will be introduced with an electronic registration of petitions that will suspend for the upcoming H-1B 2020 season. This will benefit foreign students who graduated from US institutions by an estimated 16% (nearly 5340 workers). US President Donald Trump made it clear once again that he is in support for merit based immigration.
Francis Cissna, director of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) gave his nod for the statement made by Trump and the new rule has been announced. “US employers seeking to employ foreign workers with an American masters or higher degree will have a greater chance of selection in the H-1B lottery in years of excess demand for new H-1B visas" said Francis. Starting April 1st, USCIS will first select H-1B petitions that are submitted on behalf of all the beneficiaries. The reverse selection order will be applicable to all the petitions filed for the yeear 2020 H-1B cap season.
