Supreme Court Refuses To Stay In Ramesh Kumar Case:- The Supreme Court today refused to stay the order of High Court in reinstating the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar. The decision has been made by a division bench that is headed by justice SA Babde. The government of Andhra Pradesh filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court challenging the decision made by High Court to retain Ramesh Kumar as the State Election Commissioner. Ramesh Kumar's tenure was cut to three years and the AP Government appointed Justice V Kanagaraj as the new SEC.

This is made after Ramesh Kumar postponed the local body polls considering the coronavirus scare. This did not go well with the AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his government. The Supreme Court issued notices to the State Election Commission along with others of the AP Government. They refused to stay the order and they sought response from the State Election Commission. Retired Justice V Kanagaraj took charge as the new Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh on April 11th. Ramesh Kumar filed a petition after which the High Court provided relief for Ramesh Kumar.

The government of Andhra Pradesh received one more set back in this case and now from the Supreme Court.
