Despite medical science acquiring momentous feats, there continues to be things that remain way out of its grasp and realms of any treatment. Such is the case with a Mid-South lady whose medical crisis has been baffling the medical practitioners for over three years now.

Meet Shanya Isom, a 28-year-old victim of an unidentified illness - a bewildering medical condition where in finger nails grow in lieu of hair follicles.

The bizarre medical condition  struck her three years ago when she suffered an allergic reaction that triggered off the debilitating condition.

At the end of it, she was left covered in hard scabs as 'nails' that replaced the hair on her body. The doctors are still in the dark about how to cure Shanya's mysterious illness.

In 2009, September, she was prescribed steroids for asthma that left her with rashes and itch. Soon enough, her body developed black bumps that the doctors found difficult to explain. They treated her for everything, right from eczema to Staphylococcal infection, but they could do nothing to stop her symptoms.

Shanya produces 12 times the normal number of skin cells per hair follicle, suffocating her skin. Apparently, she is the only woman in the world with this  unexplained condition.
