This burger would be offered on the menu at a secret location for taste testing. Why is it so costly? Well, it is the world's first lab grown burger.
You might ask what a lab grown burger means. This pioneering technology involves growing meat in the lab, which in turn is used to prepare the burger. A man in London is predicting that the huge demand for meat will make farming unsustainable. Hence, Professor Mark Post used cow stem cells and grew 20,000 small meat strips.
The Netherlands Maastricht University Professor was quoted by Mirror as saying that to succeed, the burger has to look, feel and taste like the real thing. Hence, the £250,000 5oz patty will be served to two volunteers in London, one of whom is it's funder.
