VVS Lakshman crosses 8000 mark

VVS Lakshman crosses 8000 mark After India ended their first innings at 201 with Hyderabad classy batsman V.V.S. Laxman contributing the highest score of 85 runs out of 146 balls on the first day of second test being played against the hosts West Indies at Bridgetown in the Barbados, the hosts also lost three quick wickets for a paltry of 30 runs when stumps were drawn on Tuesday.
 
In the process, Lakshman crossed the mark of 8000 runs in the Tests which included 16 centuries and 50 half centuries from his 122 test matches so far.
 
Asked to take batting first by the West Indies which won the toss, the tourists lost some quick wickets and found themselves at 38 for 4 wickets in the first 15 overs. Then came the classy batsman Lakshman who took charge of the batting along with Suresh Raina to take the first innings total to a respectable figure of 201.
