India’s Mahesh Bhupathi And Leander Paes who reunited on the tour beat doubles pair of Frenchman Michael Llodra and Serb Nenad Zimonjic 7-6(4), 7-6(2) in a classy style to claim their second ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title of the season in the final match at the Western & Southern Tennis Open, Cincinnati.
After a gap of nine years separation the pair joined on this tour. They already won their first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title in Miami.
The whole match was keeping the audience glued to their seats. The Indian duo executed their game plan strategically and with master strokes. The worlds third seeded pair beat the fourth seeded pair. But the biggest victory to the Indian team was beating the top seeds and 11 Grand Slam winners, the Bryan Brothers in their run to the finals.
The pair, runners-up at the year’s first Grand Slam Tournament, Australian Open, planned meticulously to get rid of their opponents in a battle which lasted for an hour and 41 minutes. The pair now focuses on the Olympic Gold at London, in 2012.
This victory must go down their memory lane as a land mark, since they have improved on all departments of the game and showed their prowess while playing.
The winning Indian Pair have reached a 25-8 win-loss record this year, having started the season winning the Chennai Open
